I, runner, take you, running, to be my sole passion, to have and to hold, from this moment forward, for better or for worse, in good times and in bad, in triumph and in defeat, in joy and in sorrow, in sickness and in health, to cherish and to love, until death do us part.
Together as one, we will be stronger; we will reach farther; we will accomplish more than we could alone. For the rest of my life, I will trust and respect you each day more than I did the day before. I promise to learn from you and to grow with you, from now until my last breath.
I will never forfeit upon fatigue. I will never stop before reaching the next milepost. I will never do less than what is asked of me. Though our journey together may not always be smooth, I pledge, with my all, to always give my very best.
You are my friend, my guidance, my glory, my peace, and my serenity. Nothing will ever deter us, in blistering heat or in numbing cold, for I understand pain, discomfort, exhaustion, and doubt are only temporary. No hour is too dark, no course is too tough, no hill is too steep, and no road is too long, for I know my unending devotion to you will prevail in the face of challenge. From time to time, my energy may dwindle and my strength may diminish. But for as long as we have each other, our love will never fail. This is my solemn vow to you.
What do you think of my vow? How much does running mean to you? What would you do for running? Please leave a comment below and share this post.
